Staying Safe In the Cold Weather | Print |

The cold weather can be very dangerous to older adults.  Here are a few tips for staying safe this winter.
  • Keep your thermostat set no lower than 68 degrees
  • Do not use your stove or oven to heat your home
  • Continue with your daily routine
  • Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration
  • Ask a neighbor to check on you from time to time
  • Try to stay out of the cold as much as possible

If you have a neighbor who is elderly, here are ways you can help:
  • Shovel their walkway or driveway
  • Get their mail for them
  • Call or visit once a day to make sure they are feeling well
